In this seminar we will read through a selection of Pāli suttas and extracts (with a focus on the Kaccānagotta Sutta) that highlight an aspect of Early Buddhist thought: the application of paṭicca-samuppāda to our experience of the world. Pāli texts can be read in different ways depending on our orientation and intention. We will be learning about an approach which is founded in the teachings of Sangharakshita, but informed by work of Dr Sue Hamilton, and by my own research.
There are three main aims:
- to gain confidence in reading and interpreting Pāli texts
- to explore key technical terms in context
- to see how ideas found in texts can inform our approach to practice
